For the Community
In the aftermath of Helene, which absolutely ravaged Rutherford County, RoCo Relief was created by a group of citizens to help fill some of the gaps that were noticed, observed, and/or noted in the ongoing relief efforts of our police, fire, and first responders. This is not stated to be negative towards our public workers who, in our opinion, are absolute hero’s and loved by our community. However this is more of an honest assessment of the reality you are faced with when, what is likely going to be categorized as a 1,000 year storm, collides with your county. Nobody would have ever imaged the destruction Helene left in her path. A consequence of this is that nobody was fully prepared for the needs, equipment, emotional fortitude, and shear stamina that was going to be required to manage the rescue, recovery, and rebuilding efforts that would be needed.
As a result of this challenge, RoCo Relief was created and, as stated above, is focused on the gaps. We don’t want to recreate the wheel, step on any toes, or waste effort through redundancy. We seek to help where help is needed most. In the gaps that aren’t being service either through lack or resources, equipment, or whatever. It is unreasonable to expect our first responders to do everything and be everywhere and this is where we aim to help.
Our mission is to help our first responders by providing volunteer help and financial donations to strengthen their ability to serve our community.
